Ming Chuan University welcomed a team of four members from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) to conduct an on-site visit during September 28-30, 2008 as a part for accreditation candidacy.
Since August 2006, the University has been pursuing for institutional accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Dr. Luis Pedraja, Vice President of the Commission visited the university on September 26-29, 2006 and recommended the university to prepare for Phase II: Self-Assessment Document and Team Visit.
The University submitted its Self-Assessment Document in June 2007 and an addendum to the Document in April 2008. The Applicant Self-Assessment Team was chaired by Mr. David E. Hollowell, Executive Vice President and Treasurer Emeritus, University of Delaware; other members were: Dr. Karen Froslid Jones of American University, President Lisa Marsh Ryderson of Wells College, and Dr. Barbara S. Loftus, Vice President of MSCHE.
The purposes of the September visit were to verify that the university is in compliance with the 23 eligibility requirements of the Commission of Higher Education, and that the university is able to meet the fourteen standards of the Middle States Commission of Higher Education for accreditation.
Ming Chuan University has been invited to attend the Self-Study Institute sponsored by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education on November 9-10, 2008 in Philadelphia. Immediately after the Institute, the Commission will send a consultant to work with Ming Chuan faculty and staff on the Self-Study Report. This process is expected to last for two years, through 2010.
